SOLACE projekt
Az Európai Rákellenes Tervhez kapcsolódó program célja, hogy előmozdítsa az egyes tagállamok tüdőrákszűrési programjainak végrehajtását. Ennek során felmérik és csökkentik a vizsgálatok lebonyolítását nehezítő akadályokat annak érdekében, hogy a társadalom minél szélesebb köre vegyen részt a szűréseken. Magyarországon a projekt megvalósítása az Országos Korányi Pulmonológiai Intézet vezetésével, valamint a Debreceni Egyetem és a Pécsi Tudományegyetem együttműködésével történik.
Napjainkban a daganatos megbetegedések közül a tüdőrák jelenti a vezető halálozási okot. Korai felismeréssel azonban a túlélési arány jelentős mértékben javítható. A tüdőrák szűrésének és kellő időben történő felfedezésének biztonságos, egyszerű és hatékony módszere az alacsony dózisú számítógépes tomográfia (LDCT) alkalmazása, amelynek segítségével 20%-kal csökkenthető a tüdőrák okozta halálozások száma. Az új uniós rákszűrési ajánlás arra kéri a tagállamokat, hogy vizsgálják meg ennek gyakorlati alkalmazhatóságát és hatékonyságát, különös tekintettel a nagyobb kockázatnak kitett csoportokra. Számos oka van annak, hogy a veszélyeztetett személyek nem vesznek részt tüdőrákszűrésen. Ez főként a földrajzi távolsággal és a társadalmi egyenlőtlenségekkel hozható összefüggésbe. Ráadásul esetükben a tüdőrák kialakulásának kockázatát növelő tényezők – mint például a dohányzás – sokkal gyakoribbak lehetnek.
Az Európai Unió által finanszírozott „SOLACE” projekt átfogó iránymutatást nyújt a legkorszerűbb tüdőrákszűrési programok elindításához, valamint a végrehajtás során személyre szabott eszköztárat is biztosít a nemzeti és regionális központok számára.
A projektet a SOLACE konzorcium az Európai Orvosbiológiai Képalkotó Kutatóintézet koordinálásával, az Európai Radiológiai Társaság és az Európai Tüdőgyógyász Társaság által kinevezett szakértők tudományos vezetésével hajtja végre. A projektben akadémiai és kutatóintézetek, egyetemi kórházak, nemzeti egészségügyi hatóságok, valamint a betegeket és az egészségügyi szakembereket képviselő szervezetek, illetve szövetségek vesznek részt.

SOLACE project
A new pioneering EU4Health project has been launched in the context of the European Cancer Plan to promote the implementation of lung cancer screening programmes in each Member State. It will assess and reduce barriers to screening to ensure that the widest possible range of people in society can participate. In Hungary, the project is led by the National Institute for Pulmonology, in cooperation with the University of Debrecen and the University of Pécs.
Lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer. As with all cancers, survival rates are much higher when it is caught early.
Low-Dose Computed Tomography scans (LDCT) are a safe, simple, and effective way of screening for lung cancer. Multiple trials in the USA and Europe have shown that LDCT, when effectively implemented, can reduce deaths from lung cancer by 20%. The new EU Cancer Screening Recommendation invites Member States to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of LDCT to screen individuals at high risk for lung cancer. The EU-funded SOLACE project supports Member States with implementation and will provide a personalised toolbox to national and regional centres to facilitate the implementation of lung-cancer screening programmes across the EU, with a particular focus on groups that are at higher risk due to health inequalities.
The project will be implemented by the SOLACE consortium under the scientific leadership of experts appointed by the European Society of Radiology and the European Respiratory Society. Patient-led organisations, European Lung Foundation and Lung Cancer Europe will provide input from the patient perspective.
The international screening programme is being implemented under the leadership of the National Institute for Pulmonology (OPKI) in cooperation with the University of Debrecen and the University of Pécs. In addition, OKPI contributes to the project by providing a large number of screenings (2,000 people). Given that the smoking cessation support will nearly double the effectiveness of the screening, participants will also have the opportunity to benefit from the cessation support with the help of the Institute’s experts.
In the long term the project will provide valuable learning on how best to implement a cost-effective screening programme for lung cancer and the best techniques for reaching out to those groups that are at particularly high risk. This will ensure that those as most risk of lung cancer have access to high quality screening in a way that fits their needs.
The SOLACE project was officially launched on 01 April 2023 and will run for 3 years.
